Dear God its Me again (part 5)

So its been a while since I last posted a blog, and it kind of reflects my prayer life too, except Ive been tryin to resume my personal time with God before I tried to get back to progging.


And what better way to start progging again than to be in a cafe, on my laptop, using the free wifi, drinking THE BEST hot chocoate EVER! (its literally like melted chocolate....nun of dis watered down powder stuff.lol)....I used to pray for a laptop cos I dreamed about doing this.lol..how sad, but thank you lord =D


Anyway, I was at church the other day, and the guy was talking about prayer. We looked at Matthew 6:9-13 aka....the Lords prayer.

My bible reads as follows:

This then is how you should pray:
'Our Father in heaven:
May your holy name be honoured;
may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need.
Forgive us the wrongs we have done,
as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.
Do not bring us to hard testing,
but keep us safe from the Evil One.'


Ive heard alot of messages before on this scripture, one that sticks out since I was little was ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication)
Adoration
Acknowledge who he is
Praise him for who he is
Submit to him, know who you are as you stand before him
Confession
Admit the wrong that you have done, he sees anyway. Theres no point trying to ignore some things that you have done cos he knows anyway.
Say sorry! There is nothing that you have done that will shock God as there are millions of people before you that have done it already but be humble enough to ask God for his forgiveness. He WILL forgive you.
Thanksgiving
Your life might not be perfect, it might even be not great at all, but we still have alot to be thankful for.
With your victories, give the glory due to God.
Supplication
This is the part of your prayer where you ask for stuff.
Know the will of God for the situation you are praying for. There is no point in praying for something that God has already said is not his will in his word. That is why it is so important for us to know God's will through the bible. Gods word never changes, and his opinion will never change. When we know God does not approve, theres no point in wasting time praying for it but when we know God approves, we can stand boldy before him, asking for the answers to come through.

I had heard this message before but what stood out to me about his message was the importance emphasised on Thanksgiving.

'Thanksgiving gives access. Spend all your time praising, less time asking. God knows what you want, but the less emphasis you place on that will touch his heart.'


He used the example of a child.
Parents know that when a child compliments their parents, next they will be asking for something. Let us not be like that but rather, genuinely thank n praise God without the hidden agenda.
As cliche as it sounds, everyone loves the good kid. (God obviously loves both, come one, he loves us.lol)
But the good kid, although they are not perfect, when they do wrong they are really sorry. Theyll come crying to the parent, and when they finally tell the parent what they have done, the parent will forgive so much easier than if the kid had tried to hide the evidence of the wrong they had done.
Noone likes a spoilt brat. I remember a story my mum told me about me when I was little. We were at a bus stop by a toy shop and I said to her ''mummy that toy is really pretty isnt it? but we cant afford it can we? Maybe next time we can thought.' How cute.lol My daughter would definately be more likely to get what she wanted saying that rather than bugging and crying and moaning about it.
I really dont like the kids that 'know it all'. Dont be like that with God - He'll put you to shame.

Dont be fake. God knows you. Be real. if it means using slang, use slang - but remember who ur talking to. Dont use words u dont understand.

After the message, when I prayed i was tryin to praise God for all he has done and for who he is to me. He is my hero, my friend, my father.
But the man was using words like 'alpha and omega', 'the great i am'. I realised that alot of those things, I am unable to say because I dont know.
I want to know God like I know my best friend. How can I call God my best friend, if I dont know him like I know the people I am with everyday.


I need to find out all the names of god and my aim is to know all those names of him personally. Not just to know the name off the top of my head, but to experience it.
